Build Cache

Definitions

1. A cache of previously compiled artifacts, dependencies, and intermediate results that speeds up subsequent builds by skipping unchanged steps. Local caches live on the developer's machine; remote caches (Turborepo, Nx Cloud, Gradle Enterprise) share across CI runners and team members. Content-addressed caching uses input hashes to determine cache hits.

   In plain English: Saving the results of previous builds so unchanged code doesn't need to be rebuilt, dramatically speeding up builds.

   Example: "Turborepo's remote cache means if any team member already built this exact combination of inputs, your build finishes in 2 seconds instead of 5 minutes."
