1. The ability of a model to perform a task it was never explicitly trained on, by leveraging its general knowledge. GPT answering questions about a topic it never specifically studied is zero-shot. The reason LLMs feel magical.

   In plain English: When an AI can do something it was never specifically trained to do — like a student who can answer test questions on a topic that wasn't in the textbook.
