Definitions

1. An X11 or Wayland client that controls the placement, sizing, stacking, and decoration of application windows on a desktop. Ranges from full desktop environments (GNOME's Mutter, KDE's KWin) to minimalist tiling managers (i3, Sway, Hyprland) that arrange windows in non-overlapping tiles.

   In plain English: The software that controls how application windows are arranged, resized, and displayed on your computer screen.

   Example: "I switched to i3 as my window manager and now my entire workflow is keyboard-driven with no overlapping windows."
