1. A step in which an AI system critiques its own output against a rubric, policy, or reasoning standard before revising it. Self-critique is often used in alignment and quality-improvement workflows.

   In plain English: The AI system critiquing its own output before finalizing it.

   Example: "They added self-critique before final response generation so unsupported claims were more likely to be caught and rewritten."
