  1. A structured examination of a system, process, design, or incident to evaluate quality, correctness, compliance, or risk. In security work, reviews range from architecture reviews and access reviews to post-incident lessons learned and policy reviews.

    In plain English: A careful check of something to evaluate whether it is safe, correct, or acceptable.

    Example: "The release could not go live until the security review confirmed the new token flow did not widen customer-to-customer access."
