Definitions

1. The time it takes an AI system to return a response, including retrieval, model inference, validation, and any other steps on the critical path. Response time is a major product concern because users feel delays immediately.

   In plain English: How long the AI system takes to respond end to end.

   Example: "They optimized the retrieval step first because response time AI metrics showed the model itself was not the main bottleneck."
