Definitions

1. A document format or process used to propose ideas, standards, protocols, or major project changes for review and discussion before adoption. Often abbreviated RFC, it is central to internet standards and increasingly common in internal engineering design processes.

   In plain English: A formal proposal document used to gather feedback before an important technical decision is finalized.

   Example: "The interface change needed a request for comments because too many downstream teams depended on the current behavior."
