1. A review focused specifically on high-impact permissions, roles, and elevated accounts to verify that privileged access is appropriate, justified, and controlled. Privilege audits are used to find stale admin rights, excessive entitlements, and weak approval or monitoring around powerful access.

   In plain English: A review of powerful access rights to make sure they are still justified and controlled.

   Example: "The annual privilege audit found dozens of developers still holding production admin rights from old incident-response rotations."
