  1. The practical resistance of a password to guessing, brute force, and dictionary attacks based on its length, unpredictability, and whether it follows common human patterns. Password strength is better improved by long, unique passphrases than by short, complex-looking but predictable variants.

    In plain English: How difficult a password is for an attacker to guess or crack.

    Example: "The password checker rejected the choice because leaked-password matching showed poor password strength despite the symbols."
