Definitions

1. Data made available for use, reuse, and redistribution under terms that support broad access, often with minimal restrictions such as attribution. Open data is important in science, civic technology, mapping, and transparency work.

   In plain English: Data that is published so people can freely use and reuse it.

   Example: "The city’s open data portal made it possible to build transit tools without scraping PDFs."
