One-Time Password

Definitions

1. A password or numeric code intended for a single login or short validity window, often generated by hardware tokens, authenticator apps, or delivered out of band. One-time passwords raise the bar beyond static passwords, though they are still vulnerable to real-time phishing and relay attacks.

   In plain English: A code that is meant to work only once or for a very short time.

   Example: "The attacker phished both the password and the one-time password before the session token was issued."
