Non-Repudiation

Definitions

1. A property that provides strong evidence that a specific party performed an action or sent a message, making it difficult for them to deny involvement later. Non-repudiation commonly relies on digital signatures, trusted timestamps, and auditable key control rather than simple logs alone.

   In plain English: Strong proof that a person or system really performed an action and cannot credibly deny it later.

   Example: "The system needed non-repudiation for high-value approvals, so each action was signed with an individual hardware-backed credential."
