Definitions

1. A tool or malware component that records keystrokes typed on a device in order to capture passwords, messages, or other sensitive input. Key loggers can operate in software, firmware, or hardware form and are commonly used for credential theft and spying.

   In plain English: A tool that secretly records what someone types on a keyboard.

   Example: "The forensic team found a key logger on the kiosk that had been collecting staff credentials for weeks."
