Human Error

Noun · Slang & Abbreviations

Definitions

  1. A broad label for mistakes made by people, often used too quickly when a system should really have better safeguards. In engineering slang, 'human error' is sometimes the start of analysis and sometimes the premature end of it.

In plain English: A mistake made by a person, often discussed in relation to system safeguards.

Example: "The postmortem refused to stop at human error, because the real question was why one typo could still reach production with so few protective checks."
