Fragment Attack

Definitions

1. An attack that abuses IP packet fragmentation to evade inspection, confuse reassembly behavior, or trigger bugs in network stacks and firewalls. Fragment attacks rely on the fact that different devices may process fragmented traffic differently.

   In plain English: An attack that uses fragmented network packets to hide or confuse malicious traffic.

   Example: "The IDS missed the payload because the attacker used a fragment attack that split the exploit across packets."
