Definitions

1. Field-Programmable Gate Array — an integrated circuit designed to be configured by the customer after manufacturing, containing an array of programmable logic blocks and reconfigurable interconnects.

   In plain English: A special chip you can rewire with software to do different tasks, like a Lego set for electronic circuits that you can rebuild without buying new parts.

   Example: "We prototyped the entire video pipeline on an FPGA before taping out the ASIC — saved us six months of silicon respins."
