Encrypted Messaging

Noun · Security & Infosec

Definitions

  1. Messaging systems that protect message contents with encryption so unauthorized parties cannot read them in transit and, in end-to-end designs, not even the provider can decrypt them normally. Security depends on key verification, device trust, and metadata handling as well as the core cryptography.

In plain English: Messaging that uses encryption to keep message contents private.

Example: "The organization moved sensitive chats to encrypted messaging after realizing the old platform stored everything server-side in plaintext."
