1. The presence of meaningful difference within a group, whether in background, identity, experience, discipline, or perspective. In workplace culture diversity is often discussed alongside inclusion, equity, and the quality of decision-making.

   In plain English: Meaningful variety in people, backgrounds, or perspectives within a group.

   Example: "The hiring discussion improved once people talked about diversity as a strength for the team rather than as a vague branding goal on the careers page."
