Deauthentication

Definitions

1. The forced termination of a wireless client's connection, commonly by sending forged 802.11 deauthentication frames in networks that do not adequately protect management traffic. Attackers use deauthentication for disruption, interception setups, or to push victims onto rogue access points.

   In plain English: Forcing a wireless device off a network connection.

   Example: "The tester used deauthentication to knock devices off the real SSID and observe how they reconnected."
