Cyber Incident
Noun · Security & Infosec
Definitions
A security event that actually threatens or impacts the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of systems or data and therefore requires formal response. Not every alert is a cyber incident, but every confirmed breach, disruptive attack, or major compromise is.
In plain English: A security event serious enough to require an organized response.
Example: "Once the attacker touched production credentials, the alert was escalated to a cyber incident."
