Code Zombie

Noun · Slang & Abbreviations

Definitions

  1. Code that should be dead but still shambles around affecting the system. In engineering slang, code zombies are particularly dangerous because teams assume they are gone until they unexpectedly bite production.

In plain English: Dead code that is still somehow active and causing effects.

Example: "The deprecated fallback path was a code zombie, still waking up under rare conditions and bypassing the newer validation logic."
