1. A sustained conflict over technical direction, ownership, standards, or architecture that absorbs a lot of energy. In engineering slang, code wars are rarely just about the code; they are about power, risk, and identity too.

   In plain English: A prolonged conflict over technical direction or code decisions.

   Example: "The switch to the new framework triggered a code war between teams who valued rapid delivery and teams who had to live with the operational consequences later."
