1. The property that systems, data, and services remain accessible and usable when needed by authorized users. In security, availability is one of the core goals alongside confidentiality and integrity.

   In plain English: The ability for systems and data to remain accessible when needed.

   Example: "The DDoS campaign was primarily an availability attack rather than a data theft attempt."
